I grew up in Houston, Texas. My father went to the University of Houston Law School and set the pattern for my life. Growing up with a father who was an attorney, I developed an analytical mind and questioned everything. It was almost foreseen that I would also become an attorney.

I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1986 with a BA degree in Political Science. Afterward, I enrolled at the University of Arkansas School of Law. While attending law school, I was on the Dean’s Honor List each and every year and graduated in the top 10% of my class.

After Law School, I packed up all my suitcases and boarded a plane to Honolulu, Hawaii. After passing the bar exam, I walked around downtown Honolulu, passing out my resume.

My experience with insurance companies

My very first job was working as a defense lawyer for various insurance companies: State Farm, GEICO and AIG, among others.

I would defend the insurance companies in lawsuits brought by those injured in car accidents, homeowner accidents, dog attacks, and all other types of traffic-related accidents. Since I worked closely with the insurance companies and knew the insurance adjusters by name, I learned how the insurance companies settled accident claims. I learned what worked and what did not work in negotiating practices.

After 7 years on the insurance company side, I knew deep in my heart that I should be representing injured victims and not the big bad insurance companies.

Insurance companies are in business to make money, not to pay out money to injured persons. Everyone thinks that the insurance companies will be fair and just in their settlement negotiations. However, I learned that insurance companies are not fair and are not in business to help injured people.

Moving to Fort Collins, Colorado

Settling down in Fort Collins was a no-brainer. I had visited Fort Collins in the past and loved the people, friendliness, and small-town feel. As an avid cyclist, Fort Collins is a paradise. Luckily, Fort Collins has incredible cycling trails and bikeways. It is a very friendly cycling city. I frequently ride 3-4 times per week and sometimes with my club, the Fort Collins Cycling Club.

I take only a small number of cases at a time so that I can devote my time to your case.

What I will do for you

You can depend on me. I have the experience and knowledge to get the best settlement that is humanly possible. I take only a small number of cases at a time so that I can devote my time to your case. Many attorneys are out to make as much money as they can in the shortest period of time, so they take on more than 100 cases at a time.

I get higher settlements than most lawyers because I spend more time on a case, its details, and negotiation.

How can a lawyer be effective by taking on so many cases? He cannot. The TV lawyers are famous for taking a lot of cases at one time and settling these cases at a low money value because they make money by settling a lot of cases as fast as they can. They are a factory. Oftentimes, they do not even see your file since most of their work is handled by paralegals and legal assistants.

With me, you get me! I would never turn your case over to a legal assistant. Injured people deserve the best attorney and the best settlement. I get higher settlements than most lawyers because I spend more time on a case, its details, and negotiation.

I also decided that I would not charge the high fees that most lawyers charge. Basically, TV lawyers charge more to cover their overhead, employees’ salaries and marketing costs. I want to see you get the majority of the money and not the attorney. My goal is always to help injured victims put the most money in their pockets as they are the ones that are injured and suffering, not the attorney.
